CV - DRAFT 02

This is the first draft for my cv which was previously used by me. I plan to make it better and more professional using minimal design application. Furthermore, i will be updating what is written on my CV as this version is a little out of date.

Old Design

CV - New Design Ideation

New Design

Ideation Process

My main aim for the CV was to keep it simple. I am someone who sometimes has a habit of overdoing my designs. I can lose in the process of designing that I forget when to stop. So, for this reason I am going to keep my design minimal and classic. Although it is minimal it will have a bubbly touch to it in a professional manner. I am targeting to be accepted in a professional digital design studio. There are different types of designers and this is the type of designer I want to be. For this to be successful my CV must reflect my personality as a designer.

My designs speak to the audience in a way that creates curiosity and inventiveness. I have the ability to familiarize and adjust my style to the necessary outcomes needed. Moreover, I thoroughly enjoy illustrations, animations and layout designs. I see potential in our environment to solve problems through effective design. My heart is still in its most creative zone and I hope to inspire my audience with the touch of my design senses

Before I started with my CV, I started with my self-branding. I feel branding is the most crucial point of your design direction. With a solid brand identity, you can start in the direction you desire. Having a solid identity also makes it easier for you to plan your elements for everything else (Ersoy, 2018). For my identity I refined my old logo which was an illustration of my face to a typographic logo. I personally feel I am not specialising in illustration only which is why it led me to approach the branding process with typography.

I believe behind every artwork there is a story only the artist would understand. Only the seeker to seek would truly find these little meanings behind the design journey. Although there is an artistic expression in design, I believe design is not art. Rather there is art in design. To be a designer you. Must always find solutions to the problems.

Building the layout was kind of a difficult process for me as I felt like I was overdoing my design. I tried to keep it minimal but then it looked too blank which I disliked. It was quite challenging for me honestly. Although it was a little troubling, I searched for many references to keep it with the right number of elements. This practice helped me receive criticism effectively and build my CV and cover letter in a very professional manner.

Moreover, it was rather difficult for me to build my CV as I didn’t have much work experience to write down in the list. Although I did not have many references in the working field, I explained the job tasks I completed during my internship. This way the reader would have an idea of how and what my tasks are as a designer. Furthermore, I believe building a good cv increases your chances of employment (PAs, 2007). I have included my education history and my working experience along with the skills I have.

In the making the CV process I also reflected on things a designer hiring me might think about. It is always important to prepare for questions you may receive from the design studio as the CV , Portfolio and the Cover letter is what they would be looking at (Lindberg, 2019).
